KGP projects for WMATA Stations
Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area
For the past 24 years, KGP has led station planning projects and studies to improve station internal efficiency and neighborhood connectivity. The firm has had projects on 60 Stations. Many have been constructed or are being constructed during this time frame. These projects include new entrances, pedestrian tunnels, mezzanine extensions, additional elevators, upgraded lighting to LED throughout the system, and new graphics and furnishing. This includes the design of the new prototype elevators with glass replacing the dark brown enclosures on the street for safety and visibility. Special canopies were studied for station entrances in National Park Service land, and new infill stations have been designed.
This cluster of projects shows the KGP expertise working on WMATA infrastructures developing design alternatives to create a more inclusive and efficient metro system in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.
