West End Transitway

The West End Transitway will serve as a vital link, connecting major transit facilities such as the Van Dorn Metrorail Station, a new transit hub at the former Landmark Mall site, Mark Center Transit Center, a new Southern Towers transit hub, Shirlington Transit Center, and the Pentagon Transit Center. It will also connect several neighborhoods along the corridor, including Van Dorn/Landmark, a redeveloped Landmark Mall, and Beauregard. As one of three planned BRT corridors for the City, alongside the existing Metroway line, this project aims to enhance connectivity and accessibility. KGP is the design lead, developing innovative bus shelters and exploring various options to provide the client with the most effective and context-sensitive solutions.
KGP is exploring design alternatives for the station enclosure, including a complete glass envelope or a station marker wall system, aiming to enhance its integration with the surroundings. The preferred solution emphasizes translucency, minimizing barriers to maintain a seamless connection with the sidewalk and nearby private properties.
